Yamato Aikido International

Yamato Aikido International was founded by Murat Aktas Sensei in Perth 2009. “Yamato” meaning individual kanji are 大 meaning “great” and 和 meaning “harmony” basically meaning Great Harmony.

Yamato Aikido International is a traditional Japanese martial art that is a harmonious blend of Judo, Jujutsu, Karate and Kenjutsu and bases its teaching on the principles of mutual aid and prosperity, as well as the best use of energy.

Yamato Aikido encourages all students to maintain purity of technique and martial spirit. The focus of Yamato Aikido is to train students in basic fundamental such as Taisabaki, Tehodoki, Nigirigaeshi with a solid foundation, using throws, grips, strangleholds, joint-locks, and groundwork.

In practising Aikido students are encouraged to maintain standard rules of etiquette on the mat. The enjoyment of training is enhanced by a positive and enthusiastic spirit, a high standard of dress and behaviour and respect for all other students.

Terumi Washizu Kancho | Gyokushin Ryu Aikido

WASHIZU Terumi Sensei was one of the main assistants Uchi Deishi (resident student) of MOCHIZUKI Minoru Sensei for nearly 40 years. He specialized in the style of sutemi which was taught at the Yoseikan Hombu Dojo (Gyokushin Ryu), and he obtained by MOCHIZUKI Minoru Sensei his Hanshi degree and Menkyo Kaiden.

Today, he is one of the last direct students of MOCHIZUKI Minoru Sensei to maintain a teaching imprinted on tradition and to perpetuate the original design of MOCHIZUKI Minoru Meijin. Washizu Terumi Sensei has over 40 years of martial arts experience and has the following ranks:

  • Yoseikan Okuden Menkyo Kaiden
  • 7th dan Yoseikan Budo
  • 4th dan Yoseikan Jujutsu
  • 3rd dan Katori Shinto Ryu
  • 3rd dan Judo

He founded the Gyokushin Ryu School, which is based at the original and prestigious dojo once called Yoseikan, in Shizuoka.
