Murat Aktas Sensei was born in 1968 in Turkey. His first taste of martial arts began at a young age where he learnt wrestling. After migrating to Australia, he started training in Pencak Silat, Jujitsu and Yoseikan Aikido in the year 2000 in Perth, under the school of Jan de Jong. One year later he focused solely on Yoseikan Aikido. In 2003 after the passing of Jan De Jong, Murat Sensei joined the Seifukai Federation where he trained with Nobumasa Yoshida Sensei, the 9th Dan Grandmaster of the Seifukai Federation.

In 2009, He founded his own school called Yamato Aikido International located in Cannington Perth where he has trained over 100 students and has over 10 black belt students.
He is a direct student of Washizu Terumi Kancho, the Gyokushin Ryu Aikido Founder. Murat Sensei has been awarded the title of International Gyokushin Ryu Aikido Shihan Dai by Washizu Sensei himself and he is the Branch Chief Instructor of Gyokushin Ryu Aikido in Western Australia. He is authorised to grade students on behalf of Washizu Sensei. He travels several times per year to train directly under Washizu Sensei in Honbu Dojo in Shizuoka and advancing in his preferred and favourite technique the Sutemi Waza (Sacrifice throws). Also Murat Sensei has had the privilege of being the first person to be taught by Washizu Sensei the Budo Yoseikan Goshin Aikido No Kata (Self Defence Aikido Kata) in July 2018 in Shizuoka. Murat Sensei has been instrumental in Spreading the Gyokushin Ryu Aikido in Western Australia, and in Turkey. Teaching and supporting all student to pass all his knowledge, enjoying and sharing the beauty of art.
